Introduction
METTLER TOLEDO puncture-type pH the electrodes with Xerolyt
polymer electrolyte are used for direct measurement at pH
in foods, for example fresh or cured meat, cheese and fish.
Before using the electrode, read instructions carefully.
2
Important notes
On receipt, check that the pH electrode is undamaged and in
good condition. For further information, ordering and service
(advice), please refer to your supplier.
Safety
– T he electrodes tip is made of glass. If the electrode breaks,
there is a risk of injury and of glass splinters in the measured
material.
– W ear gloves and goggles when handling solutions, e.g. when
attaching the watering cap filled with electrolyte, and when
calibrating with pH buffer solutions.
3
Connecting the electrode
Use an AS7 cable to connect the puncture pH electrode directly
to a pH meter or pH transmitter (Fig. 4).

Please read the instructions for the pH meter or transmitter.
We recommend calibrating at the temperature of the measured
material. A pH / temperature table is printed on the buffer label.
Automatic temperature compensation is possible by using a
separate temperature sensor. If highly accurate measurement is
required, insert the electrode the material 3 – 4 minutes before
starting to take readings.
