Westward Operating Instructions and Parts Manual
Operations for 22XP35 with Cable Feeder:
1.
Put the Rotation Switch to FOR.
2.
Make sure that at least 12" of cable is in the drain
and the section of cable from the drain opening to
machine is within 12" and that the cable outside the
drain cleaner is no more than 6" from the drain
opening.
3.
Move the handgrip away from drum to release the
chuck from the cable. Do not engage chuck while
using Cable Feeder.
4.
Depress the Power Switch to let the drum turn
while gently pushing down the Cable Feeder Lever
to let the cable smoothly work its way into the drain.
5.
Release the Power Switch when the cable outside
the drain opening becomes short.
6.
Grip the cable with your gloved hand to prevent it
from pulling out of the drain and pull the machine
back to have more cable come out of the drum while
making sure no more than 12" of cable is exposed.
Repeat the above steps to continue advancing the
cable in this manner.
7.
Feed the cable slowly and carefully when you notice
the cable feed becomes slow or the cable starts to
wind or load up outside the drain. This is an indication
of trap, elbow, soft build-up materials like grease, or
the actual blockage. Do not let cable build up outside the drain. Too much cable fed into the
drain may give a similar feeling.
8.
For tougher resistance, sharp thrusts of the cable - with or without rotation, can help the cable
through a trap. Running the drain cleaner in REVERSE rotation for several seconds while pushing
on the cable may also help with the feeding.
Only do this shortly and repeatedly. Running the cable in reverse for a long period
of time can damage the cable.
9.
If the end of the cable is stuck in the blockage, with the chuck gripping the cable, pull back on
the drain cleaner to free the cable from the blockage. Applying momentary reverse rotation
operation may help with the cable-freeing effort.
10. Feed the freed cable back into the blockage slowly. When the blockage is felt, release the Cable
Feeder Lever to stop the auto-feeding. Let the cutter work on the blockage for a longer time
with less force pushing in.
11. Continue or repeat the above steps until the pipe is cleaned.
12. To retract the cable, run water to help with the pulling.
13. Put the Rotation Switch to FOR. Release the chuck and turn the Cable Feeder Actuator to R (for
retracting). Depress the Power Switch to let the drum rotate. Push the Cable Feeder Lever
down to let the cable work its way out.
Do not let the cable expose more than 12".
