DRIVE CLUTCH LEVER CLEARANCE
Measure the clearance [1] at the
tip of the lever [2] when completely
released.
The clearance must be between:
HRD536 5-15 mm
HRH536 5-10mm
1. Undo the lock nuts [4] with a 10 mm
spanner and move the adjusting nut
[3] up or down as necessary.
2. Tighten the nuts and check the
clearance again.
NOTE: Refer directly to the paragraph "Shift lever adjustment'.
SHIFT LEVER ADJUSTMENT
HRD536:
1. Put the shift lever [5] in the
fastest position.
2. Undo the lock nuts [6] with a 10
mm spanner.
3. Tighten or undo the nuts [6] so
as to obtain a clearance of
between 1.5 mm and 6.5 mm at
the clutch lever [7], then tighten
the nuts.

4. Start the engine and check that the minimum and maximum
speeds correspond to the following values:

CUTTING MEANS FITTING AND
REMOVAL
CUTTING MEANS REMOVAL
1. Place the throttle control lever in "STOP" position.
2. Close the fuel shut-off valve and drain the carburetor.
3. Tip the lawnmower so that the carburetor faces upwards.
NOTE:.Never tip the lawnmower so that the carburetor faces down;
this will make starting difficult.
4. Remove the cutting-means
[10] bolts [9] with a 14 mm
socket spanner [12]. Use a
block of wood to prevent
the cutting means from
turning when undoing the
bolts
5. Remove the cutting means
from the cutting-means
holder [11] together with
the block.
CUTTING MEANS SHARPENING
1. Sharpen the cutting-means cutting edges with a file. File the top
side only. Maintain the original bevel [13] for a fine cutting edge.
File both ends evenly to maintain cutting-means balance.
2. After sharpening, test the
cutting-means balance using a
screwdriver as shown above. If either
side dips slightly below the horizontal,
file that side. Replace the cutting
means if it dips excessively.
CAUTION:
• Cutting-means balance is critical to proper lawnmower
performance. Replace any cutting means that is damaged or out
of balance.
• Use only a genuine Honda replacement cutting means or
equivalent.
CUTTING MEANS FITTING
1. Clean the dirt and grass from around the cutting-means
assembly area.
2. HRH536: Install the flange of the bearing shim against the bearing.
3. Fit cutting means [15] using
the two bolts [16] and special
washers [14] as shown. Fit the
special washers with their
convex side, marked "OUT",
facing the bolts.
