g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack
from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures
reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the
power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power
tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools
with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance
with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations
different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
WARNING: When used in Australia or New Zealand, it is recommended that
this tool is ALWAYS supplied via Residual Current Device (RCD) with a rated
residual current of 30mA or less.
Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using
only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
Electric Soldering Safety
WARNING: Do not hang the soldering iron vertically during use. This will
cause heat to rise, which could make the handle too hot to touch and in
extreme circumstances soften or melt the handle. Allowing the iron to hang
down will also place additional strain on the power cable mounting.
WARNING: Only use soldering iron stands suitable for the wattage of your
soldering iron. Do not use high wattage irons with light small soldering
iron stands.
WARNING: Use soldering irons safely. Use promptly when the soldering iron
has reached the required temperature and switch off immediately after use.
• Soldering tools become extremely hot during use. Do not touch any part
of the tool other than the handle
• Switch off and allow the tool to cool completely before attempting to
change any fittings
• Do not leave this tool unattended whilst hot
• Heat may be conducted to hidden areas or materials near to the work
area. Ensure that there are no flammable materials in the vicinity of the
work area
• Residual heat may cause waste material to ignite, even after the tool has
been disconnected from the power supply
• Never use these tools near any kind of fuel tank or gas cylinder
• Soldering with certain materials may result in toxic fumes. Always allow
adequate ventilation. Do not use in confined spaces
• Some types of solder may contain high proportions of lead. Molten lead
emits toxic fumes, always wear good quality appropriate breathing
protection
• Lead fumes are especially toxic to children, pregnant women and people
with high blood pressure. People at high risk should not be allowed near
to the work area

Intended Use
Electrical soldering iron, featuring a 5-48W variable power output. Suitable
for precision use, and more general electrical soldering, complete with
soldering station, stand, tip and sponge.
Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new soldering station. Familiarise
yourself with all its features and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If
any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before
attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before
attaching or changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Assembly
1. Insert Stand (4) into the slot in the Base Unit (1)
2. Place Cleaning Pad (8) in tray in Base Unit (1) and add a little water (the
pad should be damp)
3. Sit the iron in the Stand (4)
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and hearing
protection, as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.
Switching on and off
• The Power Switch (3) is located at the front of the Base Unit (1), to turn
the soldering station ON, press the Power Switch into the 'I' position
• To turn the soldering station OFF, press the Power Switch into the 'O'
position
Using the soldering iron
1. Clean the Tip (5) and the workpiece with suitable flux before soldering
2. Plug the solder station into the mains power supply
3. Switch the solder station ON, as instructed in 'Switching on and off'
4. Set the Temperature Control (2) to the required temperature –
anticlockwise = cooler, clockwise = hotter
5. Wait a few minutes to allow the Tip to heat up
6. Check the heat by touching the damp Cleaning Pad (8) with the Tip
7. Switch the solder station OFF when not in use, refer to 'Switching on and
off' to switch the soldering iron OFF
