Place one or two cups on the plate and switch on the coffeemaker. When using only one cup, it should be
positioned centrally. For two cups, place them side by side.
Use one full measure of coffee per cup. This will produce a medium coffee.
This coffeemaker has a permanent filter. This means that filter bags are not necessary. If you do prefer to
use filter bags, we recommend size 100 or 101. Using filter bags will make the machine easier to clean.
A paper filter also filters the coffee more finely than the permanent filter.
CLEANING
FIRST UNPLUG THE CORD FROM THE SOCKET
Rinse the drip-tray and the filter. These parts are not dishwasher-safe. Use a damp cloth to wipe off the
outside of the machine. The cups are dishwasher-safe.
DESCALING
Regular descaling will help prolong the life of the coffeemaker. It is a good idea to descale around once a
month. If the local water supply is especially hard, twice a month is recommended. Hard water is more
than 20* DH (a German scale used to measure water hardness). Your water company can tell you the
degree of hardness. Descale the appliance immediately if:
- the appliance makes gurgling noises;
- the coffee takes longer than usual to brew;
- water remains in the reservoir after brewing.
Nearly all commercially available descaling products are appropriate for use. Check the package to see
whether the product is suitable for coffeemakers. Never use any product containing hydrochloric or
sulphuric acid. These are not suitable for descaling.
To descale, proceed as follows:
- First allow the appliance to cool down sufficiently.
- Fill the reservoir with cold water.
- Add the amount of descaling agent indicated on the package.
- Switch on the appliance.
- Switch off the appliance when half of the water has flowed through, then leave it for half an hour to
allow the descaler to do its work.
- Switch on the appliance again. After all of the water with descaling agent has flowed through, brew
clean water through it three times to rinse away any remaining traces of descaling agent.
Note: Let the appliance cool down for about three minutes in between rinse cycles. The warranty does
not apply to appliances with calcified build-up.
PRINCESS TIPS
- Set the appliance on a sturdy, stable surface.
- Never submerge the appliance in water or other liquid.
- Ensure that the appliance is not so close to the edge of a table, counter top, etc., that
someone could knock it over. Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge or on the floor,
as someone may become entangled or trip over it.
- Do not use the equipment if it is damaged, or if the lead is damaged. Send it to our
Service Department. With this type of appliance, a damaged cord should only be
replaced by our service department using special tools.
- Do not place the appliance on or directly adjacent to a warm hotplate or other source of heat.
- Always unplug the appliance before cleaning or if any fault develops.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaning products.
