3. PREPARATION FOR STARTING

3.1. Setting up the suction flange
• Fit the suction, the supply flange and the suction filter onto the pump before operating a
new pump for the first time.
[ATTENTION]
Be careful not to tighten the bolts too much.
3.2. Setting up the suction hose
• Connect the suction hose. Use a hose with
reinforced walls or reinforced with braided wire to
avoid suction problems.
[CAREFUL]
Always use a filter or a strainer with the suction
hose. If gravel or dirt is suctioned inside the
pump, serious damage could be caused to the
impulse and other parts of the pump.
3.3. Connecting the supply hose
Connect the discharge hose. When using a woven
hose, always use a hose clamp to avoid the hose
disconnecting under high pressure.
3.4. Check oil level in the engine.
[ATTENTION]
The engine could be damaged if it is started with insufficient lubricating oil. It is also
dangerous to supply an excessive quantity of oil to the engine since its combustion
could cause a sudden increase in engine rpm. Always check the lubricating oil level
before starting the engine and add a little if necessary.
