A light sensor installed in display panel is used to
sense the ambient light level. The range of ambient
light depends on the installation site and can vary in
public travel applications between 100 Lux and 1000
Lux. Higher ambient light levels near the panel surface
decrease the contrast ratio and result in a low legibility
of the presented information. Through a bright envi-
ronment the intensity performs apparently in a smaller
way.
The brightness values measured by the light sensor
are compared with preset reference values. The result
evaluates and used for the automatic adjustment of
the display brightness.
If the brightness of the environment sinks, the display
brightness is decreased. If the brightness of the envi-
ronment rises, the display brightness is increased.
This control provides best legibility under varying am-
bient light levels and extends the life time of the dis-
ALC sensor
play.
Adjust Backlight ALC
This function regulates the backlight brightness into
dependence of the ambient light. To avoid the image
flicker, a change lasts approx. 3 min from minimum to
maximum and in reverse order.
The backlight brightness changes with the ambient
light synchronous.
