Charging begins after connecting a battery. If the
battery is connected with reverse polarity, the device
will not start. If charging is interrupted due to the ter-
minal contact being lost, the device will immediately
switch back to standby mode. Charging will begin
afresh when a battery is reconnected. In the event of
a power failure (or when the power plug is pulled),
the device will automatically start charging afresh
when the power returns.
Charging can be prematurely terminated or paused
using the button. If necessary, the battery can be
disconnected from the charger, or charging will
be continued if you press the button again. After
a 1-minute pause, the device will automatically
resume charging.
3.8.2 Charging 12 V
The battery is charged in line with an IUoU char-
ging profile, which means that, in the first phase,
the maximum possible current is used for charging
until the end-of-charge voltage of 14.4 V, usually,
is reached. This voltage is then kept constant until
the current falls below a threshold value or a safety
time of 8 hours has expired. It will then switch to
charge retention, during which the voltage will be
maintained at 13.3 V. The following display will
appear during charging.

The display will permanently show the current
battery voltage and charging current as well as
the amount charged and charging time. After the
battery is fully charged, the device will switch to
charge retention. Charging can be paused or
cancelled at any time using the button.

3.8.3 Battery selection/adjusting the
charging parameters
Various settings can be made from the basic menu.
Different types of batteries can be selected, charac-
teristic curve parameters can be changed, a desulp-
hation programme can be loaded, and languages
can be selected.
3.8.3.1 Battery selection
The touch display can be used to switch to the
settings mode by pressing and holding the gear
symbol (approx. 3 seconds). There, you can choose
between specified battery types with defined
parameters.
The following additional battery types can be
selected:
WET For batteries with a liquid electrolyte (also
lead-calcium or EFB).
AGM For batteries with an electrolyte fixed in glass
fibres (absorbed glass matt).
GEL For batteries with a fixed electrolyte.
Li-Ion For batteries in Li-Ion technology.
The appropriate characteristic curve parameters will
automatically be loaded when a selection is made.
3.8.3.2 Adjusting the charging parameters
The following menu will appear when the "Gear"
control button is pressed. You can navigate in this
menu using the buttons (see 3.7 Operation). You
can use the up/down arrow keys to select the
battery voltage and battery type. In the "Uni" basic
setting, the battery voltage cannot be changed.
