Before working, remove any dangerous ob-
jects from the working area, e.g. branches,
glass or metal pieces, stones.

Make sure you are standing safely.
3.4
Safety of persons and animals
■
Only use the appliance for the purposes for
which it is intended. Any non-intended use
can lead to injury and property damage.
■
Only switch on the appliance when there are
no persons and/or animals in the working
area.
■
Keep hands, feet and other parts of the body
away from moving appliance parts.
■
During the work, do not hold the branches to
be cut off tightly.
■
Before removing jammed branches, switch
off the appliance and wait until the cutting
blade has come to a standstill.
■
Appliance parts, such as engine covers and
cutting blades, can heat up considerably dur-
ing operation. Do not touch them. After
switching off, wait until the appliance has
cooled.
■
An improperly used and damaged re-
chargeable battery can cause vapours and
electrolyte fluid to escape. Vent the room ad-
equately and in the case of any disorders,
consult a doctor.
Upon contact with electrolyte fluid, wash off
with copious amounts of water and immedi-
ately rinse the eyes thoroughly. Then consult
a doctor.

Appliance safety

Only use the appliance under the following
conditions:

The appliance is not soiled.
■
The appliance show no signs of damage.
■
All controls function properly.
■
Keep all appliance handles dry and clean.
■
Do not overload the appliance. It is intended
for light work in the private sector. Overload
can lead to damage to the appliance.
■
Never operate the appliance with worn or de-
fective parts. Always replace defective parts
with original spare parts from the manufac-
turer. This ensures the security of the appli-
ance. If the appliance is operated with worn
or defective parts, guarantee claims against
the manufacturer are excluded.

To avoid short-circuits and destroying elec-
trical components:

Protect the appliance against humidity
and do not use it in the rain.

Do not spray the appliance with water.
■
Do not open the appliance.

appliance with the blade guard.

Danger of lacerations
The cutting blades continue to run after
switching off the engine. Danger of lacer-
ations when reaching into sharp-edged
and moving appliance parts.

Never reach directly into moving ap-
pliance parts after switching off the
appliance.
■
Wait until the cutting blade come to a
standstill before changing it or clean-
ing the appliance of cuttings.
■
Wear protective gloves.
■
Only work with sharp cutting blades.
■
Never leave an operational appliance unat-
tended.
■
Immediately release the On/Off switch in the
following cases:
■
in case of malfunction and unusual vibra-
tions
■
before clearing blockages and clogging
■
before removing cuttings
■
upon contact with dangerous objects and
foreign bodies
■
After contact with dangerous objects and for-
eign bodies, check the appliance for damage.
Have the appliance repaired if it has been
damaged.
■
Secure the appliance between working steps
by putting on the blade guard.
