5.4 Cold Silanization in the
Sandblasting Unit
EN
The Basic series of Renfert sandblasting units is
exclusively recommended by 3M ESPE for use with
ROCATEC™. This bonding system is ideal if an
adhesive bond is required between a composite and
a dental material (metal, acrylic, porcelain, zirconia
porcelain).
Advantage:
The surface film is applied cold, preventing thermal
loading of metal frameworks and consequently the
risk of distortion. All units in the Basic series can be
used for ROCATEC™ due to their regular, homoge-
neous jet flow.
6. Connecting Additional
Tanks and Other Com-
pressed Air Devices
6.1 Installing Micro
Sandblasting Tanks
The installation of the additional tanks is described in
a separate set of instructions included with the tanks.
6.2 Connecting Other Devices
The various devices are connected to the connectors
on the back of the unit (Figure 17):
1
Installation of top left blasting tank
(Before Installation, remove the blank plug)
2
Installation of top right blasting tank
(Before Installation, remove the blank plug)
3
Installation of bottom left blasting tank
(Before Installation, remove the blank plug)
4
Installation of bottom right blasting tank
(Before Installation, remove the blank plug)
Alternatively, it is possible to connect a
device which runs on compressed air!
6.3 Filling the Micro
Sandblasting Tanks
Never activate the foot switch while filling
the tanks.
Regardless of the pressure indicated on
the manometer, the micro sandblasting
tanks are only under pressure if the foot
switch is activated.
1. Unscrew the tank cover (Figure 18).
2. Add abrasive only to the max. fill mark (the point
at which the tank jacket thickens below the cover
thread) (Figure 19).
3. Reinstall the tank cover (Figure 18).
Before closing the tank, always clean any
abrasive residue from the threads on the
cover and on the tank. Do not misalign the
cover.
Use only clean, dry abrasive with the ap-
propriate grain size (refer to the accesso-
ries list).
6.4 Connecting Additional
Compressed Air Devices
Additional compressed air devices such as the Basic
mobil are connected to the back of the Vario basic
(Figure 21, Section 6.2, Figure 17).
The connected device's compressed air hose can be
inserted through the socket on the side (Figure 20).
Figure 21: Example of connecting a Basic mobil.
7. Cleaning / Maintenance
Always disconnect the unit from the mains
power and compressed air supplies prior
to performing any cleaning and mainte-
nance tasks.
7.1 Cleaning the Interior
Use only solvent-free cleansers (e.g., soapy water).
Remove the base grate (Figure 5) and vacuum out
the blasting chamber.
Using a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe out the insides of
the tanks and the tank covers!
7.2 Inspecting the Water
Separator
Drain any condensation water through the outlet
valve.
Press up on the valve from below (Figure 22).
