1. Framing Construction
Install the Framing
IMPORTANT! Dimensions given in the roughing-in information are critical for proper installation. Refer to
the "Roughing-In" section for dimensions.
IMPORTANT! The framing for each stud should be plumb and square to within 1/8" (3 mm). Shimming
may be required.
Carefully measure the whirlpool.
Construct 2x4 framing using the dimensions specified in the "Roughing-In" section.
Construct an 18" x 15" (45.7 cm x 38.1 cm) access panel to allow for servicing the pump and
controls. All studs above the cutout must be well supported on the header.
If possible, remove the bottom plate.
Construct an access panel to allow access for servicing the faucets and drain.
Construct the Floor
IMPORTANT! Construct the floor of plywood. If whirlpool is installed over material other than plywood,
friction may cause squeaking over time.
Install blocking for the optional apron. Position three 2x4 blocks behind the optional apron to
position the apron and provide protection from impact damage.
If the subfloor is constructed of a material other than plywood, position the supplied felt pad so all
supports will rest on it.
NOTE: The "Roughing-In" section indicates the location of the drain. The overflow drain location is not
shown.
Cut a hole in the floor large enough to fit the drain assembly selected for your installation.
Level the Floor (If Needed)
NOTE: The whirlpool supports must rest directly on a level subfloor.
NOTE: Use cement or mortar for this application. Do not use gypsum cement or drywall compound for
this application, as they will not provide adequate support.
Build a dam that will keep the flooring material in the desired area. Be sure to dam the area for the
drain.
