To prepare the chain saw for transportation or storage:
► Switch off the chain saw, @ 14.2.
► Engage the chain brake, @ 12.1.
► Disconnect the chain saw from the power supply.
► Release the chain brake and loosen the chain.
► Re-engage the chain brake.
► Slide a chain scabbard over the guide bar so that it covers
the entire guide bar.
► Before using the chain saw, remember to re-tension the
saw chain.
NOTICE
Failing to loosen the saw chain after finishing work can

contracts as it cools down.

17.1 Transporting the Chain Saw

When transporting the chain saw:
0458-729-8621-A
► Slide a chain scabbard over the guide bar so that it covers
the entire guide bar.
► When transporting the saw by hand, hold it by the front
handle with the guide bar pointing backwards, opposite
the direction in which you are walking. Never carry the
chain saw by the power cord or allow the cord to drag on
the ground.
► When transporting the saw in a vehicle, cover the guide
bar with a chain scabbard. Secure and position the chain
saw to prevent turnover, impact and damage.
Your saw comes standard with a chain scabbard that
matches the cutting attachment. If you use guide bars of
different lengths on the saw, the length of the chain
scabbard must be matched to the guide bar to reduce the
risk of injury. It should cover the full length of the guide bar.

18 Storing

and otherwise increase the risk of severe personal injury
and property damage, @ 6.4.
When storing the chain saw for three months or longer:
► Remove the saw chain and guide bar.
► Clean and spray the guide bar with protective oil.
► Clean the chain saw, @ 19.
► Fill up the chain oil tank, @ 11.4.2.
