HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS is continuously endeavouring to improve all its products and the equipment supplied is subject to
change without notice. Consequently, the information, illustrations and descriptions provided in this document may not be used as a reason to demand
the replacement of equipment.
Being in possession of these instructions does not automatically authorise the holder to use breathing device; only appropriate training will enable safety
procedures to be followed. HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS accepts no liability if the recommendations contained in this document are
not followed.
The recommendations in boxes have the following meanings:
Failure to follow the instructions in boxes could seriously damage the equipment used and put the user in danger.
Failure to follow the instructions in boxes could lead to incorrect use of the equipment and result in damage to the equipment.
PROTECTION AND USE CATEGORIES ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The OPENGO filtering devices for self-rescue with hood must be used only for self-rescue in escape situations and should not be used for a continuous period
exceeding 15 minutes. It protects the eyes and respiratory tract.
It is manufactured in strict compliance with DIN 58647-7 standard for class duration of 15 minutes (at nominal toxic concentration of 0.25% by volume).
This period may be reduced in the case of high concentrations, or if low boiling point chemicals are present.
The filters are non-reusable.
DESCRIPTION OF OPENGO HOOD______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
• If in any doubt as to the suitability of the equipment for a specific application, contact the supplier for more information.
• Never use the system for long periods (i.e. to perform a work).
• The system does not protect against carbon monoxide or lack of oxygen (the oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere must not drop below 17% by
volume).
• The system does not protect against gases with low boiling point.
• The system is only designed for a single use over short period of time.
DESCRIPTION OF OPENGO HOOD______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The hood consists of:
• A coated fabric hood.
• A panoramic visor.
• An ABEKP15 filter protecting against:
Ƕ Organic vapours with a boiling point of over 65°C (solvents, for example).
Ƕ Inorganic gases (chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, for example).
Ƕ Sulfurous acid anhydrides (sulfuric acid, for example).
Ƕ Ammoniac.
Ƕ Toxic aerosols and dusts.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Instructions for the user
• Be certified capable of wearing breathing apparatus.
• Be experienced, trained and familiar with wearing breathing apparatus.
• Undergo regular training appropriate for the actual conditions of use.
• Refer to current official safety requirements specific to this particular usage.
Pre-use checks
• Read all the instructions for using the breathing apparatus and keep the document.
• Make sure that the apparatus is not damaged.
Storage
• Maximum storage time is 12 years if kept in its original, undamaged packaging, with a maintenance every 6 years.
• When the 12 years period expires, it is necessary to have the hood reconditioned by the HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS or by another
approved organisation.
• Do not store at temperatures below -20°C or above +50°C or in an atmosphere with a rate of relative humidity of more than 90 %.
• Store the hood away from direct sunlight and dust in the original packaging or in a sealed pack.
Cleaning instructions on non-opened OPENGO:
• Clean the apparatus with damp soapy tissue if neccessary (do not put the OPENGO under running water).
• Carefully dry the device before putting it back to storage.
