• Stronger currents: Depending on the added animals
but also on their growth, it may be required to install a
separate flow pump in the aquarium. Please make sure
that the pump remains easily accessible, e.g. for main-
tenance, and that fish or invertebrates cannot be drawn
in. You can prevent this by using a basket-like protec-
tion grid placed on the pump intake.
• Lamps: The sera marin Biotop LED Cube 130 is by
default equipped with 12 white and 6 blue LED chips.
All LED chips have the same power uptake, so blue
LED chips can be replaced with white ones and vice
versa. The LED chips can be replaced separately.
Please use only original sera spare parts.
The combination of white and actinic blue light is optimal
for a mixed livestock consisting of soft corals and fish.
• Cooling: The sera aquarium is provided with open-
ings that allow connecting an external cooling system
in case external temperatures become too hot in sum-
mer. Connecting hoses can be directed through the
ducts on the back cover edge (1.2.4). Make sure the
fish cannot be drawn into the cooling system. You can
avoid this by connecting the water supply for the exter-
nal cooling system to the filter.
SAFETY PRECAUTION
The aquarium may only be transported when empty.
Aquarium cover
Assembly of aquarium cover (2.1)
The sera LED cover is already pre-installed on the plas-
tic frame of the aquarium. Power supply of the LED cover
is achieved by an included ballast with an output voltage
of 12 V DC.
Connecting the power supply (1.2)
Push the barrel connector of the ballast (1.2.5) into the
connector socket of the LED cover cable.
The connectors must be laid out in the dry in a way that
there is no tension on the connectors, thus preventing
them from being accidentally disconnected.
Opening the aquarium cover and snapping it in (2.2)
The aquarium cover is installed on the back of the aquari-
um with two hinges. Open the cover until both support bars
on the right and the left snap in if you wish to open the cover.
The support bars now hold the cover in place. For closing the
cover, hold it open with one hand. Slightly pull where the hing-
es are located using the other hand. The snap-in mechanism
will then open. Now you can gently close the cover. Make sure
that both support bars fold in towards the front.
Lighting in the aquarium cover (1.2)
The LED units in the aquarium cover are connected in two
groups. The LED units are positioned in a way that white
and blue LED chips can be switched on and off separately.
However, you can change the LED units as you wish. The
LED chips are placed in 6 rows with 3 LED chips each. The
second and the fifth row are in one circuit (switch 2.3.1),
and the remaining LED chips form another circuit (switch
2.3.2). The two light switches are located on the right side
if you look on the front side (2.3).
Aeration
The LED cover is equipped with two fans for cooling the
LED chips. Both fans are located on the side where the
light switches are. Both fans take up operation when the
lighting is switched on, even if only one circuit is on. Check
regularly whether both fans are running as to avoid over-
heating LED chips.
Replacing the LED units (1.4)
Take the LED cover off the aquarium (2.1) and place the
LED cover on a soft, firm support. Now loosen all screws
of the clear pane (1.4.1). Take the holder frame of the clear
pane off. You can now remove the clear pane. Place the
clear pane on a soft cloth as to protect it against scratches.
All LED units have a separate fastening frame with a bayonet
lock. Turn the fastening frame counterclockwise until the end
(1.4.2), then pull it gently out of the lamp casing (1.4.3). The
LED chip has two wire pins on the back side which are used
to push the LED chip into the lamp socket. The LED chip is
pulled vertically from the socket without rotating it (1.4.4).
Inserting the LED chips takes place in reversed order
(1.4.5, 1.4.6).
4 chamber internal filter (1.5)
The filter system of the sera marin Biotop LED Cube 130
is already firmly installed at the back of the aquarium. Please
nevertheless check that all elements are firmly seated.
First chamber
The water flows into the filter system through the overflow
grid located at the back right. For proper operation of the
4 chamber internal filter, the water level must always be
2 cm (0.8 in.) above the bottom edge of the overflow grid.
Water must be topped up in case the water level is lower!
Lacking water makes the water surface inside the 4 chamber
filter sink until the pump begins to run dry and does not agi-
tate any water any more in case of continuing lack of water.
The holder bracket for the sera heater is located in the
first chamber. Take the sera heater out of its packaging
and push it into the bracket from above (1.5.6). The water
flowing along the heater will be heated to the target tem-
perature (ideal: 25 – 28°C/77 – 82°F).
Second chamber
In the second chamber, two black filter sponges are locat-
ed underneath the sera marin Protein Skimmer PS 200.
Make sure the bottom filter sponge is placed in the filter
with the creases directed downwards.
The sera marin Protein Skimmer PS 200 is attached on
the plastic back of the aquarium with its outlet towards
the third chamber. Please refer to the information for use
of this device for adjusting and operating the sera marin
Protein Skimmer PS 200.
The water then flows into the third chamber.
