end to the other D-ring.
Prior to ascending, test the holding capability
of the equipment by moving from left to right
to check the lanyard slides freely.
Check to ensure that the geometry of the
structure allows the use of a work positioning
system (small diameters of posts, trunks, etc. as
well as sharp edges are not permitted).
Adjust the lanyard to be able to work
comfortably, with both hands free.
In the work position, adjusting the work
positioning lanyard must not allow a free fall
greater than 0.50m.
Check to ensure that the positioning lanyard is
always taut.
A belt equipped with a backrest must be used
for extended periods of positioning work.
While in use, regularly inspect the adjustment
and/or attachment elements.
3-2 WARNING
Tool holders or other metallic elements (cf. Fig. XII
p.12) which are not identified as anchorage points
must never be used with a fall arrest, work positioning,
or retention system. Suspender-mounted tool holders
may carry a maximum load of 2 kg. If the load applied
to the tool holder is greater than the maximum load
or if you pull sharply on the tool holder ring, the ring
will detach from the plate. If the ring comes off, it is
possible to attach it back to the plate without any
impairing the safety harness' reliability.
Belt-mounted tool holders can carry a maximum load
of 30 kg.
For a fall arrest harness to be fully effective, it must be
adjusted properly (cf. Fig. XIII p.12)

3-3 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Every time a fall protection system is used, an
evacuation plan must first be established to deal with
any emergency that may occur (e.g., rescue after a fall)
and allow for the fastest possible evacuation under the
best possible conditions (e.g., presence of a stretcher
or access capability for firemen, etc.)
4 - AFTER USE INFORMATION
4-1 CLEANING
The harness should be cleaned with water
and a mild soap (neutral PH). Never use acid,
solvents or any solvent-based product,
Leave to dry in a well-ventilated area, away
from sources of heat. Store in a location away
from moisture and ultraviolet rays under the
aforementioned conditions.
Avoid any atmosphere that is corrosive or
excessively hot or refrigerated.
4-2 PERIODIC EXAMINATION
These instructions must be kept with the product.
Fill in the identification sheet and enter the markings
information. This periodic examination, which verifies
the effectiveness and strength of the equipment is
indispensable in guaranteeing the user's safety. It
is your responsibility to make sure that this sheet is
updated and stored. In the absence of any written
record on the identification sheet, the product will
be considered not to have been maintained and
no warranty will be granted by the manufacturer. A
qualified person must examine this equipment at
least once each year, in strict compliance with the
instructions of the manufacturer and the examination
must be recorded on the attached sheet and on the
label provided on the harness for this purpose. The
frequency of the examination must be increased in
accordance with regulations in case of heavy usage or
in difficult environmental conditions. The legibility of
the product markings must be checked.
4-3 LIFESPAN
The maximal life of PPE that is predominantly textile
is evaluated as being 10 years after the date of
manufacture. However, the following factors may
reduce the performance of the product and its
lifespan: intensive use, incorrect storage, improper
use, fall arrest, deformation, contact with chemical
products (alkali and acid), exposure to sources of heat
> 60°C, exposure to high sources of cold <-30 ° C, high
exposure to ultraviolet rays, dirty environment, or very
wet environment. (cf. Fig. XIV p.12).
