Mechanical substitute steering (emergency steering mode)

The mechanical substitute steering should be used to protect the vehicle if the
electrical steering fails.

Only quality maintenance personnel trained in its operation may use it.
– Turn off the EMERGENCY OFF
switch and switch latch.
– Secure the vehicle to prevent it from
rolling.
– Release the magnetic brake
(see chapter H).
– Remove the protective cover over the
central screw.
– Before recovering the vehicle, the
drive wheel can be turned to the
desired position via the central screw
of the drive motor with the help of the
steering crank.
– Assemble the steering crank (27)
according to the tool kit table.
– Insert the steering crank onto the
steering drive and turn the drive wheel to the desired position.

When steering while stationary, the tape binding on the drive wheel
stretched. This may cause a steering response when the hexagon wrench is
released.
IMPORTANT On reaching your destination, return the braking system to its operational
condition. The vehicle must not be switched off when the brake is being
ventilated.
– Remove the hexagon wrench from the motor.
– Replace the protective cover.
– Remove the lock screws of the magnetic brake and screw them into the driving
plate.
