Starting and Stopping Pump Operation
See Fig. 5-8 Control and display elements of the pump unit FLUID SAFE Fluid
Management System, page 22.
• Insert the tube set (chapter 5.3 Inserting the Tube Set, page 20).
• Open clamps at irrigation tube.
• Press the Start/Stop key (1)to start the irrigation process. Start/Stop key is lit. The
actual pressure display shows the current measured value.
• Press the Start/Stop key once again. The irrigation process is stopped. The
actual pressure display continues to show the current measured value.
If the tube set is not inserted and you press the Start/Stop key, three short alarms
are emitted due to an incorrectly placed pressure chamber - the roller wheel does
not start.
5.6
Presetting the Nominal Pressure
See Fig. 5-8 Control and display elements of the pump unit FLUID SAFE Fluid
Management System, page 22.
The nominal pressure can be preset to ranges between 15 to 100 mm Hg and 100
to 150 mm Hg.
Use key (12) to set this value. The nominal pressure is indicated in display (11).
To change the display:
• In increments of 5-> by pressing the key briefly
• In increments of 10-> by pressing the key longer
The preset nominal pressure will not be reached when the set flow value is too
low. Check for possible leaks.
If the actual pressure exceeds permissible tolerance value of 10 mm Hg for
longer than 5 seconds, the electronic control system of pump unit automatically
reduces pressure by reversing pump motor. For duration of exceeding pressure
parameter an acoustic alarm is emitted and the actual pressure display flashes
If the current pressure does not react to an increase of the flow value during
surgery, a perforation of the uterine cavity might be the cause. This results in an
increased risk for bacteria entering the uterine cavity. Examine the uterus for
possible injuries.
The set nominal pressure might not be reached if a very narrow instrument is
used.
5.7
Actual Pressure Display
See Fig. 5-8 Control and display elements of the pump unit FLUID SAFE Fluid
Management System, page 22.
The display (4) depicts the current pressure.
After a successful instrument detection (See chapter 5.10, page 25), the actual
pressure display depicts the current pressure at the instrument output. Without
instrument detection, the irrigation pressure is displayed.
