Operating Instructions and Parts Manual
Important Safety Information (Continued)
ARC RAYS HAZARD
Arc rays from the cutting process
produce intense visible and invisible
(ultraviolet and infrared) rays that can burn eyes and skin.
Always use safety glasses, a shield and a helmet
that comply with ANSI standards for plasma cutting.
Use protective screens or barriers to protect others from
flash, glare and sparks; warn others not to watch the arc.
Wear protective clothing and gloves made from durable,
flame-resistant materials.
SHADE AND FILTER LENSES INFORMATION
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the
US Department of Labor (OSHA) recommendations per
1910.133(a)(5) for Filter Lenses for protection against radiant
energy from plasma arc cutting.
Amperage
Less than 300
300-400
400-800
These values apply where the actual arc is clearly seen.
Experience has shown that lighter filters may be used when
the arc is hidden by the workpiece.
FUMES AND GASES HAZARD
Plasma Cutting produces fumes
and gases that could be hazardous
to your health. Always avoid breathing these fumes.
FUMES and GASES can be dangerous. Avoid
breathing these fumes and gases. When welding,
keep your head out of the fume plume. Use enough
ventilation and/or exhaust at the contact area to keep the
amount of fumes, gases, or dusts below the maximum
allowable concentration as specified in OSHA 1910.1000.
Wear only NIOSH approved respirator, gloves, welding helmet
and body protection.
Do not cut in locations with exposed cleaning agents such as
degreasers or spaying operations using solvents or coatings.
The heat and rays of the plasma arc can react with vapors
from these agents, solvents, or coatings to form highly toxic
and irritating gases.
Do not cut galvanized coated metals, cadmium plated metals,
or metals which contain zinc, mercury or beryllium. These
coatings and materials give off toxic fumes when cut. Remove
the coating or plating from the cutting zone before cutting.
NOISE HAZARD
Plasma arc processes can cause
permanent hearing loss. Wear
NISOH approved hearing protection.

PLASMA ARC HAZARD
The heat and air stream from the
plasma arc can burn and pierce
safety clothing.
Wear welding gloves and flame-retardant clothing
covering all exposed body areas.
Turn off power switch and disconnect power cord before
servicing the torch.
HOT SURFACES HAZARD
Burn hazard. DO NOT touch the
work and/or adjacent surface that
have been cut without NIOSH approved gloves.
Do not touch with bare hands parts and surfaces
that have been cut with a plasma cutter.
Only handle hot parts and surfaces with proper tools and
insulated welding gloves.
Allow parts and surfaces to cool before handling with bare
hands.
ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD HAZARD
Electromagnetic fields can
interfere with various electrical and
electronic devices such as pacemakers. Consult your doctor
before using any plasma cutting device. Keep people with
pacemakers away from your plasma cutting area while
operating the cutter.
Do not position your body between the cables. Position both
cables to one side and away from your body.
Do not wrap the cables around your body and do not drape
the cables over your shoulders or other body areas.
Always connect the clamp close to the cutting zone.
STABILITY HAZARD
This plasma cutter may be severely damaged
from falling onto hard surfaces. This damage
may include short circuits that can cause electric shocks. See Electric
Shock Hazard.
Always set the unit on a stable, flat, level, and non-flammable
surface during plasma cutting.
Do not pull the unit with the torch cable, work cable, or
power cord.
COMPRESSED AIR HAZARD
Explosion hazard. DO NOT touch
cylinder with plasma torch. ONLY
use compressed air.
The supply air connected to the regulator should
not exceed 125 psi [862 kPa].
Do not modify the air regulator. Do not modify or tamper
with the internal or external air lines.
Do not bypass the air regulator.
Make sure all hoses and clamps are installed correctly and are
not damaged.
