REFRIGERATION CIRCUIT CONNECTIONS (for conf. 2-3-4-7-8-9)
The internal refrigeration circuit of the air-conditioning units is factory prepared; the terminal connection points are accessible
from within the unit and closed with shut-off valves.
The only circuit connections required on site are those between indoor and remote (outdoor) unit.
The sizing of the pipes should be calculated keeping in mind distance and pressure drops due to curves and oil traps, etc. An
indication is found. An indication is found in Appendix III.
These refrigeration lines should be carried out keeping the following points in mind:
-
Use only copper piping making sure that it has been sized correctly according to the refrigeration capacity.
-
So as to avoid vibrations, pipes should not be touching each other when placed side by side.
WARNING: When laying the refrigerant piping make sure that the supply (gas) pipe is very well insulated due to the
high temperature that could cause burns to persons.
-
When a change of direction in the piping is required do this with large radius curves and not with sharp bends (this
will notably reduce pressure drops and noise level); the radius should at least be equal to the diameter of the pipe.
-
Wash out and dry the pipelines very carefully by blowing Nitrogen through them.
If there is some uncertainty as to how well the circuit has been cleaned and dried, then it is advisable, on the liquid
-
pipeline (for Conf.2) or on the gas pipeline (for Conf.3 & 4) to install a filter-drier.
The filter used should be of the type that allows inspection and substitution of the drier cartridge.
-
-
This drier cartridge could require changing several times before the entire circuit is to be considered clean.
-
It is also recommended that the last of these cartridges be left on the installation for at least 48 hours of real
operation before removing and leaving the pipeline free.
REMEMBER THAT THE MAIN CAUSE OF SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE COMPRESSOR IS PRINCIPALLY DUE TO BAD
CLEANING AND DRYING OF THE REFRIGERATION PIPING.
On the pipeline a connection point should be installed so that a vacuum can be drawn before the valves to the indoor
-
unit are opened since HITECSA units are are already charged with refrigerant gas. The type of gas is indicated on
the unit.
Once the connections have been terminated and a vacuum has been drawn in the pipelines, these should be now
-
charged with FREON gas (whichever type has been used in the unit), making sure that there are no leaks in the
joints and in the installation (make use of an appropriate leak detector).
If leaks are detected, they should be repaired and checked before drawing the vacuum again in the pipelines.
-
WARNING : if the condensing unit (for Conf.3 & 4) is installed in a position that is higher than the indoor unit, it will be
necessary to add oil-traps on the gas line in order to ensure oil returns to the compressor (one oil-trap every 2-3 metres in
height, see fig. 6).
For correct pipe sizing, follow indication in the tables supplied by HITECSA for distances not greater than 10
metres; should the distance be more than 10 metres; consult our Engineering Dept. or a Refrigeration Specialist.
