General requirements

Because weather and environmental influences have a decisive impact on welding, the
corresponding specifications in the DVS guidelines 2207 Part 1, 11 and 15 must be observed
unconditionally. Outside Germany the corresponding national guidelines shall apply.
(The welding work must be monitored constantly and carefully!)
3.4

Important information on welding parameters

All required welding parameters, such as temperature, force and time are to be taken from the
latest DVS guidelines 2207 Part 1, 11 and 15. Outside Germany the corresponding national
guidelines shall apply. In individual cases the material-specific parameters of the pipe
manufacturer must be obtained.
The welding parameters stated in the enclosed welding tables are reference values which
ROTHENBERGER does not guarantee!

Maintenance and care

To maintain the operativeness of the machine the following instructions must be followed:
The guide rails must be kept free of dirt. When their surface is damaged, the guide rails must
be exchanged.
The heating element must be operated only with the voltage stated on the type plate.
To obtain perfect welding results it is required to keep the heating element clean. When its
surface is damaged, the heating element must be recoated or exchanged. Material residues
on the heating plate reduce the anti-adhesive properties and must be removed with non-
fuzzy paper and alcohol.
The trimmer is equipped with two double-sided ground knives. When cutting capacity starts
decreasing, the knives can be turned over or replaced by new ones.
It must always be ensured that the pipe or workpiece ends to be machined, especially the
face surfaces, are free of soiling because otherwise the service life of the knives will be
shortened.
Pursuant to welding guidelines the welding machine must be inspected annually
by the manufacturer or an authorised service workshop. Machines subjected to
above average use or strain should be inspected at shorter intervals.
4.1

Machine and tool care

(Follow the maintenance instructions in item 4!)
Sharp and clean tools produce better work results and are safer.
Replace blunt, broken or lost parts immediately. Check whether the accessories are securely
connected to the machine.
Use only original spare parts from the manufacturer for maintenance work. Repairs must be
carried out only by professionally qualified personnel.
Disconnect the machine from the mains when it is not in use, prior to care and maintenance
work and before changing accessory parts.
Prior to reconnection to the mains, it must be ensured that the machine and the accessory tools
are switched off.
