Once the connections described above have been made (See "INSTALLATION"), check to make sure
the tyre changer works properly by carrying out the following procedures:
1) Depress pedal (1, Fig. H) down: the table top (2, Fig. H) should turn clockwise.
Pull the pedal (1, Fig. H) up and the table top (2, Fig. H) should turn anticlockwise.
2) Open the bead loosener arm (4, Fig. H) manually and depress the bead loosener pedal (3, Fig. H):
the bead loosener will close.
3) Depress the pedal all the way down (5, Fig. H): the four clamps (6, Fig. H) on the table top will
open. When the pedal is depressed again, the clamps should close.
4) Check that a drop of oil drops into the lubricator glass cup (10, Fig. H) after every two or three
movements of the footpedals (3 or 5, Fig. H).
Oil feed may be regulated by means of the Lubricator adjusting screw (see Fig. L).
8.1 CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS PT40
The control lever (18, Fig. H) moves the articulated arm (17, Fig. H) up and down:
- move up to raise the arm;
- move down to lower the arm.
WARNING.
Lowering the articulated arm creates a point with a potential hand crushing hazard: always proceed with the
greatest care and attention.
The clamping handle (19, Fig. H) allows the height of the bead pressing pad to be adjusted to suit the dimensions of the wheel be-
ing processed.
8.2 FUNCTION OF THE BPR
The BPR roller (23, Fig. H) is only used in the mounting phase of the second bead.
The BPR roller guides the bead of the tyre under the hook of the head, then into the rim, during the mounting phase.
N.B.: During all other work phases, the BPR roller must be kept in a rest position, so as not to interfere with the operations
on the tyre.
8.3 ROLLER BEAD DEPRESSOR
The Roller bead depressor (24, Fig. H) is designed to facilitate the demounting and mounting operations of the Run-Flat Self
supporting tyres and UHP, it is made up of six rollers of which two are smaller at the ends, arranged on a string with a length
of about 70 cm.
Of course, this tool can also be used for all tyres whose mounting and demounting operations could be difficult.
The form of the rollers and their position inside the rim make it possible to position the bead correctly at the height of the drop
centre, facilitating demounting and mounting operations, minimising the risk of damaging the tyre or the rim and reducing the
physical effort required from the operator.
The use of the roller bead depressor is recommended in the demounting phase of the tyre's first bead and in the mounting
phase of the second bead, it can be used on any type of rim, both in alloy and steel, with a regular or reverse rim well, without
distinction.
